Marina Herwerth Has Been Awarded SNSF Ambizione Grant

Marina Herwerth received the SNSF Ambizione grant to establish her own group to investigate the astrocytopathy-driven neuroinflammation and its impact on neurodegeneration.  Combining chronic intravital two-photon microscopy and innovative methodological tools with different genetically encoded fluorescent sensors, her research delves into understanding the mechanisms and dynamics underlying the formation and recovery of autoimmune neuroinflammatory lesions. The overall mission is to lay a basis for novel neuroprotective strategies in neurodegeneration occurring in neuroinflammatory disorders.
